pay a new $5 fee per month unless you upgrade

One has to love the balls on some of the cellular companies.  Cingular has decided to add a new $5 per month fee if you have one of their older model phones.  According to the article, they will generate 23.5 million a month with the new charge. So if you have the older phones and [...]

Netflix delays

I assume I’m one of the lucky folks in the Netflix slowdown queue.  Movie showed up and watched on Wednesday, dropped of at the Post Office on Thursday – I just to the ‘received’ email today (Monday).  I’ll get the next movie on Wednesday.  That’s a week turnaround.  No matter what I do, I can’t [...]

Vegas tournaments

I just got back from playing 3 tournaments in Vegas.
In the $540 O8HL Championship at The Orleans Open, I just did not catch enough cards to keep ahead of the blinds.  It was a nice tournament, although the dealers where less than perfect.  The hour long blinds, excellent starting chips and good structure made for [...]

Poker Aces (aka Viejas tournament)

I made the 30 minute trip out to Viejas  to play their Poker Aces Tournament.  $300 buy-in, no rebuys, 100k guaranteed.  With 40 minute rounds, 5k in chips and starting levels of 25/50, it’s not a bad structure.
I forgot to bring my iPod, which generally correlates to an out of the money finish.  (I don’t [...]

IRobot update

So it’s been about a month since I picked up my IRobot from woot.com.  I run it on shave days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday).  I turn it on as I walk out the door…I return home with it back in its charging station.  I have spotless floors, yet I continue to find about 1/4th of it’s [...]

New Shoes

My new Nike Free 5.0 shoes arrived via UPS from Road Runner Sports today.  Nice shoes.  I, for one, am a fan of getting as much of the ‘technology’ out of shoes.  Over the years I have had lots of ankle/foot issues that I’m convinced have stemmed from shoe ‘advancement’.  They do feel the [...]

randomness?

i walk in from smoking a stogie (ok, and drinking a Guinness) on the 4th of july.  My linux laptop is running a fireworks theme – funny how randomness can look like ‘divine intervention’…or something…guess it depends on how you look at things!

Mexican TV for World Cup

Feel free to add this one to the not so obvious reasons to live in San Diego:
For big sporting events,  one generally has the option of catching the TV feed from Mexico.  I clearly don’t understand what they are saying, but when it comes to World Cup TV, they make more sense to me than [...]

comments are back

Well, after a loss of half a day fighting with secureimage, I have replaced it with did_you_pass_math.
I also upgraded wordpress to 2.0.3.  There are still some issues to resolve, but whatever…it’s never done and only a fool needs it to be done.  There is more to life than fucking with wordpress/linux/mysql.
Feel free to comment away, [...]
